Downers Design is a successful soft furnishings company, established in 1991 and involved in the bespoke manufacture and installation curtains and blinds that has a reputation for quality, reliability and creativity working for some of London’s leading Interior Designers, Architects and Property Developers.
An interest in fabrics would be preferable but training would be given dependent on experience.
Opportunity to develop the role within a workroom environment.
Skills and Experience Required
Work description:
– Learning to make all aspects Curtains, Roman blinds and Cushions
– Learning to use a sewing machine and hand tools
– Measuring fabrics
– Cutting fabrics to pattern
– Tidying up the workroom
– General assistance in the workroom eg. Filling and packing cushions
These would be the first steps progressing to more skilled work and potentially assisting with dressing in on site.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, capable of taking written instructions and carry out their duties with minimal supervision. Must be hard-working with attention to detail, reliable, punctual and happy to work within a small team as well as under their own initiative.
