2 x Environmental Health Officers – Food Hygiene & Standards Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week


Rotherham Borough Council’s Environmental Health service is offering a unique opportunity for aspiring and experienced Food based practitioners to join our team.


The service is particularly keen to receive applications from qualified Environmental Health Officersor individuals currently studying towards a degree with an ambition to work long-term in the field with support from the Council.


The postholders will support the delivery of a range of Environmental Health functions related to food safety, food hygiene and health and safety, including enforcement and regulation, formal and informal sampling, providing regulatory advice and guidance while supporting the delivery of projects aimed at prevention and early intervention.


The posts will be embedded within a locality Team, working in partnership with a range of partners to create safer neighbourhoods and safeguarding of those at risk.


These services seek to protect the public from a range of behavioural and environmental issues and support the Council’s priority of every resident living in a clean and safe environment.


These are career graded posts from Band G to Band I. Appointment to a grade and progression to the next grade will depend on qualifications, registration, skills, knowledge and experience.

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
