Job description

The EOC Operational Performance Manager is a key role within the EOC Business Unit and will focus on providing effective leadership and direction to all staff and managers within the EOC Operations Team and across the four EOC functions.
The post holder will line manage and support the Senior Operations Centre Managers (SOCMs) to ensure the implementation, and future development, of EEAST’s Clinical Model and UEC strategy, with a lead role in strategic project management, as required.
The post holder will hold the SOCMs to account for ensuring operational and clinical performance, to achieve national performance standards and Key Performance Indicators, which support optimal clinical outcomes, and best patient experience and safety.
The post holder will contribute to the Clinical Operational Service Planning process of the Trust and will be involved in several key strategic and operational developments, including significant business change processes.
In collaboration with the EOC Clinical Leads, and wider Medical/Clinical Directorate, ensure continuous evaluation of operational and clinical activities, standards, and service development.
To work in conjunction with other Senior Managers to manage staff and provide direction and leadership (and associated budget and recruitment management) to the SOCMs and operational staff, for developing processes and ensuring Key Performance Indicators and all other EOC Ambulance Quality Indicators are achieved.
To continually monitor and assess service requirements and negotiate with the SOCMs, facilitating adjustments, where required, to ensure optimum planning of services across the regional EOC.
To participate in the EOC Data and Technical meetings to ensure all data requirements and reporting metrics are aligned to EOC working and that a dashboard is implemented and maintained to inform all team leaders of performance metrics and standards.
To understand and adapt processes to reflect national data changes and support the Information Team to ensure relevant data is collected, analysed and interpreted, manage and use this data to deliver operational effectiveness of the Trust and utilise in operational decision making.
To be the accountable for the EOC metrics within the Organisational Performance Improvement Plans, representing the EOC at all relevant meetings relating to performance.
To contribute to, support, and deliver, effective management of all contracts within the EOC Business Unit, monitoring performance against agreed standards and national targets. Formulate and enact plans to rectify performance issues against contract standards.
EEAST employs over 5,000 staff with a further 1,000+ volunteers who between them cover 7,500 square miles and care for a population of more than 6 million.
Our three control rooms in Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Essex handle more than 1 million 999 calls every year, over 2,500 calls a day.
We manage a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles including double staffed ambulances, rapid response cars, operational commander response vehicles, patient transport and support service vehicles.
The East of England works alongside 17 Acute Trusts with Accident & Emergency services and a Major Trauma Centre in Cambridge. Access is available to neighbouring MTCs such as those in London.
