The post is based in the Transactional Finance Section, that is part of the Resources Directorate. The Transactional Finance Section provides a high quality, accurate and customer focussed service that includes accounts payable and pay control.
About the job
The successful candidate will play a key role within the Transactional Finance Section and be part of the management team. You will manage and oversee the Council’s purchasing card system, ensuring there are effective processes and procedures in place and that the system is operating in accordance with key council aims and objectives. You will be responsible for providing training, advice, and guidance across the council on the use of purchasing cards and will maintain and update purchasing card guidance, work instructions and training material. As part of the management team, you will also assist in delivering all corporate processes and policies relating to the Transactional Finance Section including business planning, performance management and budget monitoring.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to be part of the management team within the Transactional Finance Section, that will drive forward continuous improvement in the services being delivered, especially in the use of purchase cards across the council. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build successful relationships and trust with a wide range of partners. You will have a proven track record in leading, motivating and developing staff. An ability to work to deadlines, respond to competing priorities and manage a wide range of stakeholders will be essential.
