ESG Business Analyst
Position Overview:
We are currently looking for a Business Analyst with specialized knowledge in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors to work with our client. This role will be focused on crafting ESG-compliant indexes for their rapidly expanding client base. Responsibilities:
Client Engagement and Requirements Gathering:
Engage directly with our financial services clients to discern their ESG objectives, investment preferences, and specific index requirements.
Employ effective stakeholder engagement techniques, including interviews, workshops, and surveys, to comprehensively capture client expectations and translate them into actionable business requirements.
Index Methodology Design:
Design bespoke ESG-compliant index methodologies tailored precisely to client specifications and investment strategies.
Develop clear selection criteria, weighing methodologies, and scoring frameworks that effectively integrate ESG considerations into the index construction and rebalancing processes.
Data Management and Integration:
Oversee the sourcing, collection, and management of ESG data inputs essential for index calculation, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and reliability.
Implement robust data quality controls, validation checks, and governance processes to maintain data integrity and consistency throughout the index lifecycle.
Index Construction and Testing:
Lead the execution of index construction activities, orchestrating tasks such as constituent selection, weighting calculations, and rebalancing procedures.
Conduct rigorous backtesting, scenario analysis, and sensitivity testing to validate index methodologies, evaluate performance, and proactively identify potential risks and opportunities.
Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure full compliance with regulatory mandates governing ESG disclosure, reporting, and index administration, including key frameworks such as EU SFDR, TCFD, and IOSCO principles.
Meticulously document index methodologies, governance frameworks, and compliance procedures to support regulatory filings, client reporting, and audit requirements.
Project Management and Collaboration:
Serve as the linchpin of cross-functional project teams, adeptly liaising with data analysts, index researchers, IT developers, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
Foster open communication, coordination, and collaboration among all stakeholders to align project objectives with client expectations and drive successful outcomes.
Qualifications:
Proven track record of at least 3 years in financial services, index management, ESG investing, or analogous domains.
Deep understanding of ESG principles, sustainability frameworks, and regulatory requirements pertinent to ESG disclosure and reporting.
Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modelling, and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Python, Tableau), with demonstrated experience working with large datasets.
