Excellent opportunity for someone from a mechanical engineering background looking to further their career and take on an estimating role where they can play a significant part in high-profile projects in the power generation and petrochemical industry.
The company is a leading engineering construction organisation and are the UK's trusted partner for power generation and petrochemical projects. The company looks to grow each year and needs an estimator to join their team and help further business opportunities.
In this role, you'll be working alongside the estimating team and proposals manager to help manage the preparation and submission of proposals for client projects, uncover potential business opportunities, and secure contracts that further the development of the business.
The ideal candidate will come from a mechanical engineering background and will be looking to build upon their career in an estimating discipline. Experience with estimating is advantageous but not essential. The engineer will demonstrate good communication and negotiation skills with a can-do attitude and an appetite for self-development.
This is the perfect opportunity for a mechanical engineer with any amount of experience to move into a specialist and client-facing role where they can expand on their skills and knowledge within the energy and construction industries,
The role

• Preparing detailed cost breakdowns for tenders and submitting proposals for client projects
• Supporting proposals manager in providing information and documentation for bis and assisting in client negotiations
• Uncovering business opportunities and ensuring they align with sales budgets
• Hybrid working

The person

• Mechanical Engineering background
• Preferably qualified to at least HNC/HND level, although not essential
• Some experience in estimating, surveying or design work (advantageous but not essential)
• Strong communication/negotiation skills
• Strong work ethic with an appetite for self-development
