We are recruiting for an Estimating Engineer to support an Manufacturing company based in Lancashire(with hybrid working) on a permanent basis.
General and Task Management
Review and understand the customers technical requirements for RFQ (request for quotation) and any other commercial/project requirements.
Obtain external costings for materials, sub-con and bought out items required for proposal/bids. Determine key drivers forcost and achieve best value to the customer.
Use software for data analysis of previous estimates and job actuals (Currently Workplan ERP & MS Excel)
Administrate and contribute to the bid process from Bid/No-bid to bid sign-off, presenting the data and information on the estimated costings.
Work in conjunction with Project Management to produce a supporting WBS and project schedule.
Participate and contribute to the project risk analyses.
Create and submit reports to appropriate persons(project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.).
Participate and contribute to bid submission and deliver quotations to customers.
Build relationships with key stakeholders (Sales & Business Development, Operations and Production, purchasing project management, etc.)
Participate and contribute to the Sales and Operations planning process to forecast future manpower & capacity needs, etc.)
Financial and Budget Control
At contract award stage, support the conversion of the bid into the project budgets, based on the estimates created at the bid stage, and any changes involved at the negotiation stage to ensure a healthy margin is maintained during the design and manufacture stage.
Participate and contribute to the monthly management review.
Participate and contribute to the quarterly forecasting activities.
Responsible for achieving budget and forecast levels of performance, accounting for any variances.
Personal Skills Profile
Proven experience asan Estimatoror similar position in a complex engineering/manufacturing business.
Familiar with financial and project management principles
In depth knowledge of data analysis methods and estimation formulas, including learner curve.
Excellent numeracy and IT ability with an analytical mindset.
Proficient inrelevantsoftware ((Excel, MS Project, ERP, CAD).
Excellent communication (Written and verbal) abilities.
Diligent with a thorough attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills.
A recognised qualification in an Engineering discipline HNC/HND/BSc/BEng) in engineering or construction sector.
Qualifications and Experience Levels:
Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTEC Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of a manufacturing processes (Machining, Fabrication, assembly).
Understanding of lean manufacturing methods.
Experience of analysing budget performance and reporting.
Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain.
Understanding of Regulatory requirements to include AS9100.
