The Role:
- £32,000 - £38,000 per annum
- 9am – 5.30pm on office days (off-peak) Lots of development opportunities
Role Responsibilities for the Event Manager:
- Fully project lead and accountable for Garsington Opera and an additional major event
- Onsite throughout all events from end of May – end of July for Garsington Opera and adhoc throughout the year when required for the business
- To ensure the delivery of Absolute Taste events is to our exacting standards
- Key client contact for event specific senior stakeholders
- Perform an event leadership role across all event functions. Providing direction and motivation to all teams
- Manage and set project timelines and milestones, ensuring project remains on target
- Be able to communicate progress clearly, accurately and transparently to key internal and external stakeholders
- Management of ‘on site’ team and ability to scale up and adapt management between pre-event requirements and on event multiple large teams
- Help with sourcing, managing and controlling both third-party suppliers for equipment hire as well as manage Absolute Taste assets
- Help to actively seek efficiencies in operational deliveries with regards to food COS, supplier networks and resource
- Manage the team and the client with regular event updates and project planning meetings including regular updates of the key project planning document
- Event catering experience is essential
- Ideally greenfield catering experience
- Ability to understand the building of a pop-up kitchen/restaurant and the logistics around this
- Operational planning on greenfield events, working alongside culinary, logistics and staffing teams
- Work alongside Head Chef to develop menus and plan the operational delivery of menus
- Work alongside Logistics team to ensure smooth running of event from kitchen plans to vehicle movements, drinks to disposal
- Work alongside Staffing team to ensure the best staff are on the event and that event budgets are hit
- Fully control and are accountable for the overall budget of individual events
- To work alongside Finance department and Head of Events for ongoing management of the budgets, including forecasting, tracking spend
- Working closely with the finance team to facilitate invoicing, tracking payments onto the correct codes and providing reconciliations for each project
- Follow company finance processes; raising PO’s, good receipts, submitting supplier invoices to finance
- Review and prepare budget reports for senior management
- Maintain a good knowledge of seasonal ingredients and food costs and ensure cost pressures across all areas are regularly reviewed and adapted in order to mitigate these increases
Strategy:
- Act as an ambassador for Absolute Taste towards our client and guests
- Using key performance objectives to develop and monitor evolution of the department
- Support Head Chef with innovative and creative yet sensible menu development, giving consideration to locale specialties and availability
- Attendance at Garsington Opera run, along with supporting on additional ad hoc events throughout the year
- Responsible for ensuring team are providing high quality hospitality for guests
- Calm and decisive in challenging, stressful situations
- Work with logistics team on managing suppliers and deliveries
- Planning, organizing, and managing the daily operations of the hospitality staff to ensure efficiency, briefing into the Event Managers
- Identify and implement ways to further enhance guest experience
- Ensure all records and reports are fully completed, up-to-date

- Be a brand advocate for guests and ensure that all of their touch points reflect the Absolute Taste brand identity and team values
- Design and continuously improve and implement processes to ensure the smooth running of the events
- Develop and communicate standard operating procedures to all staff
- Supervising staff members and communicating the importance of customer satisfaction
- Handle customer complaints when needed
- Attend the post-event debrief with the client
