Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Funeral Director to join our team in Dundee, Scotland. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of funeral service procedures, excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor to support grieving families throughout the funeral process.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Consultation and Support:
· Meet with bereaved families to discuss funeral arrangements, guiding them through available options and ensuring their wishes are respected.
· Provide emotional support and empathy to families, helping them navigate through their grief with compassion and understanding.
· Coordinate with clergy, celebrants and other service providers to ensure all aspects of the funeral service meet the families expectations.
Funeral Planning and Arranging:
· Arrange and oversee all details of the funeral service, including burial or cremation arrangements, coffin selection, floral arrangements and transportation logistics.
· Prepare and file all necessary legal documentation, such as death certificates ensuring compliance with local regulations.
· Collaborate with families to personalise funeral services, incorporating cultural or religious traditions and honouring the memory of the deceased.
Logistics Management:
· Manage logistics related to the transportation of the deceased, including coordinating with mortuaries, hospitals, and crematoriums.
· Oversee the preparation of the deceased for viewing or burial, ensuring attention to detail and adherence to professional standards.
· Coordinate funeral processions and manage scheduling to ensure timely arrival at service locations.
Administration and Record-Keeping:
· Maintain accurate records of all funeral arrangements, financial transactions, and client communications.
· Handle billing and payment processing, providing transparent pricing information and assisting families with financial arrangements as needed.
Community Engagement:
· Represent Affertons Funeral Care within the local community, participating in outreach activities and fostering positive relationships with churches, and other community organisations.
Qualifications:
· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with grieving families.
· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
· Compassionate and professional demeanor, with a commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in all interactions.
· Full UK driving licence.
