At Job & Talent, we are recruiting for a permanent Experienced Machine Operator to work with one of our clients Grupo Bimbo. They are the leader and largest baking company in the world and a relevant participant in snacks. Here at New York Bakery we make Bagels which are one of the fastest growing bakery products and sandwich carriers on UK menus.
Shift Patterns:
- Working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern which consists of 2 x 12-hour days followed by 2 x 12-hour nights.
Pay Rates
- First 2 weeks site induction- £11.60 per hour
- Successful probation after 12 weeks £ 12.04 per hour
- £1 extra for all hours worked between 18:00 - 06:00
- Overtime x 1.25 for hours worked above contract
Job Description of anExperienced Machine Operator:
You will be inspecting products that has been packaged, checking for defects, miscounts damaged neckties etc. Repacking or resealing any affected product. Ensuring product is correctly packaged, labelled using the correct coding. Discarding of any product that does not meet the correct standards, relating any issues or concerns to the area line leader.
Reporting to the Packing Area Line Leader, the Product Retagging role covers the following
Role of anExperienced Machine Operator:
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
- A key responsibility of this position is to retag product where, either the tag has not been correctly positioned, resulting in 'slack bags' or, where production data is not clear on the product tag or is incorrect.
- Product quality issues must be reported immediately, and any resulting corrective action followed.
- Any packaging issues are reported immediately, and corrective action is followed.
- GMP and housekeeping standards are maintained and audit ready.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and processes.
- Complete any ad hoc requests from either the Shift manager or other functional lead
Key Requirements of an Experienced Machine Operator
- Manual Handling Trained.
- Be trained against all relevant SOPs and work instructions.
- Be allergen trained.
- Understands the basic safety and food safety processes for the area in which they work and can explain them.
- Operates equipment in a safe and effective manner following written and verbal instructions to minimize the risk of injury, damage, or loss.
- Routinely ensures food quality / safety checks are completed in line with company and customer requirements.
- Has good communication skills.
- Has a good standard of verbal and written English required to meet site safety rules and enable the Associate to fully understand and pass mandatory training.
- Can routinely follow instructions.
- Flexible to vary tasks undertaken and can complete repetitive tasks diligently and quickly.
- Be able to demonstrate good team working and behaviours in line with the GB Beliefs.
- Can work independently, when required.
- Has good attendance and is punctual, arriving in work area on time.
- Complies with break allocation, schedules, and cover.

- Be consistent, accurate and ensure that procedures are followed.
- To be successful in this role, you must have some experience in quality checking
