Annual Salary £27,871 to £30,045 (including shift premium) depending on experience PLUS regular overtime at premium rates

Working hours: 38 hours week, shift work required including nights.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Machine Shop Operative works with the CNC Machinists and Glaze/Polish Operatives to produce high quality medical and aerospace products. They follow work instructions to ensure product quality is achieved, including operator owned quality (OOQ) standards. The role includes using a range of measuring equipment, cleaning processes, visual inspection, laser-marking and packing and labelling, as well as rework as necessary using polishing and deburring machines such as pencil grinders.

The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow required procedures / work instructions
  • Understand and meet the daily targets
  • Visually inspect components in line with stipulated tolerances in line with customer specifications.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and equipment upkeep including replacing worn components as necessary.
  • Documents time entry in the computer and complete necessary routers.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work environment through daily and weekly cleaning procedures.
  • Assists in other areas of the production department when needed.
  • Work overtime if and when required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Dexterous and able to hand finish parts to tight tolerances using pencil grinders and similar tools.
  • High levels of visual acuity to assess parts to high tolerances.
  • Able to work under general supervision and follow instructions.
  • Has working knowledge of measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to work independently in an organized and methodical manner

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED

  • Demonstrable previous visual inspection experience.
  • Experience of working in high accuracy manufacturing, such as jewelry, or electronics.
  • Orthopedic / Medical product experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand. The employee could frequently be required to walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee could be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 16kg. Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Workers exposed to the production floor could be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and moderate to loud noise conditions
