The Woods business was established in 1909 and continues to manufacture in Colchester, United Kingdom. We have around 250 people across all business functions from sales through design and product assembly & testing, as well as businesses in USA, UK, Germany & Singapore.
Woods is a brand of Fläkt Group which is an international leader in wider HVAC products, systems, services, and solutions. As part of the wider group, Woods products are sold into multiple global applications through various routes to market including Group Companies, Agents & Distributors, Key Accounts as well as direct B2B.
The Colchester site is also the Centre of Excellence for the group for all Axial, Air Movement and Fire Safety products and serves to enable product & system sales in Building Services, Industrial, Original Equipment, and Tunnel & Metro applications globally. Our brand and product range is internationally recognised and flexible, from short-lead-time standard products through to technically complex design-to-order products. Manufacturing activities on site in Colchester include Assembly, Product Test, Stamping, Machining, Fabrication, and metal forming.
MainPurposeofRole:
To promote Woods Air Movement products, through Regional & Local Consultants/Contractors, Kitchen Canopy Contractors/Installers and Facilities companies.
To develop their own strategy for securing market share and conversion of specifications. Primary the product focus are fans (Air Movement); however, its also required to secure projects which will also incorporate Fire Dampers, Air Valves. Establish working in and around the Midlands calling on the client base 4 days a week and typically spending 1 day on planning, proposals, quotes, updating CRM etc.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- To secure Woods specifications from Regional & Local Consultants/Contractors, Kitchen Canopy Contractors & Installers and Facilities companies.
- Demonstrate a strategy to develop growth and account management on new prospect customers and existing customer base.
- Arrange face to face meetings or Teams meetings with new prospect customers and current customers.
- Secure competitors specifications by demonstrating value not just discount.
- Support Design Build projects.
- Support Distribution Partners in coverage area and route customers to place orders.
- Co-ordinating tenders & submittals with designated back-office support
- General administration of the region
- Promoting of the Woods Distribution product portfolio
- Input into national sales and marketing strategy, providing feedback on competitor activity, changing customer needs, etc

Person Specification/Profile:
- A technical bias experienced in providing a performance-based product selection service.
- Accountable, enthusiastic, self-motivated and confident in approaching new customers with determination to succeed via cold calling, etc.
- Comfortable operating at all levels, of end users, distributors, project managers and site-based staff.
- Experience of selling HVAC products to Consultants/Contractors, End Users, Kitchen Canopy Contractors & installers.
- Previous connections and proven relationships with key accounts.
- Regularly targeting conversion of Woods Air Movement fans, fire dampers, ductwork fittings, valves and energy recovery units
- Knowledge of air conditioning and ventilation systems would be desirable.
- Strong selling skills; ability to demonstrate previous track record.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office software.
- Valid UK driving licence.
