WHAT TO EXPECT


The team's function is to support Powertrain and Product Engineering in their objective of achieving ‘timely, quality’ product releases through supporting the overall Powertrain 'cycle plan'. 


The role will operate across two facilities leading and conducting activities based at Whitley and Ansty Park to ensure that the Team has the capability to fulfil customer requests and that those requests are optimised. 


You will be the main point of contact for facility issues, with your main focus on analytical measurement and will assist in maintaining the Team’s productive capability through strong personal technical leadership. You will be responsible for providing and maintaining common processes. 


The main activities need strong technical capability and require critical and analytical reasoning, robust planning and coordination.

As the Facilities Engineer you will be supporting a wide range of engineering customers, suppliers, external agencies and organisations, along with Technicians in your own team, in order to provide continuity of test activities so that the facility and team's output meet the expected requirements. 

 

You will provide continuity of testing and assurance that the facility and output meet the requirements of established international standards for laboratory accreditation.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


●    Total productive maintenance (TPM).
●    Daily health checks and resolution of issues.
●    Lead and plan the servicing / maintenance of test facilities.
●    Facility fault diagnosis.
●    Engineering Hygiene through 5s methodology
●    Lead and support the diagnosis of complex unit under test, rig and facility faults.
●    Proposals to support test plan modification based on facility TPM requirements.
●    The raising or receiving of eTrackers, tracking and managing them through to closure, to minimise facility downtime.
●    Creation of local work instructions and local process documents to enable smooth, efficient and effective delivery.
●    Mentoring and Training of those in Early Careers and Training as appropriate.
●    Ensure internal and external audit compliance to applicable standards including IATF16949 and ISO 14001.
●    Ensure that the team’s items are calibrated in date and accurately listed in CID.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED 


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


●    A Level 4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline or relevant experience. 
●    Proven experience and understanding of propulsion test facilities, processes, equipment and leading technologies.
●    Knowledge of powertrain test instrumentation and ancillary equipment, such as emissions measurement.
●    Ability to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through personal style. 
●    Ability to work quickly and pay attention to detail.
●    Computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, process and Single Point Lesson (SPL) documents. 
●    Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, Risk Assessment, COSHH and SDS.
●    A full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualification, 2 years accident-free record
