Facilities & Property Manager

We are looking for an experienced Facilities & Property Manager to join our expanding land and property team.
You will oversee the comprehensive management of a diverse portfolio of properties, ensuring the safety, compliance and functionality of all facilities.

The Facilities & Property Manager will be based within our Head Office, with the ability to work remotely and the role will require travel to charity properties across the North East. Our Head Office, is set in the beautiful and landscaped grounds of the Greatham Estate.
Overall purpose & objectives of post
- Oversee all aspects of the charity’s building functions, ensuring the safety, compliance and functionality of all facilities.
- Duties include running routine safety inspections, corresponding with and managing contractors, planning maintenance work, maintaining records, liaison with utilities suppliers to achieve value for money and the supervision of property team staff members.
Building management
- Responsible for and lead contact for the operational management of all the charity’s site-based Facilities Management, including its Care Quality Commission regulated care home Stichell House, functional buildings, day centres, Almshouse communal facilities, offices, functional buildings and surrounding land. Taking into account the impact on building occupants, staff and visitors and to minimise disruption to key areas of service delivery.
- Day to day management and coordination of pre-planned maintenance, reactive repairs and void property management of the charity’s housing stock to ensure value for money.
- Ensuring that statutory and corporate Health & Safety standards are applied and adhered to in delivery of the Facilities Management service.
Compliance
- Ensuring that statutory testing and maintenance is undertaken and that all necessary certification and records are maintained on site.
- Ensure that all statutory (and good practice) inspections/testing /compliance of buildings and site infrastructure are implemented in a timely manner, recorded and records retained
Site Security
- To ensure that there is a scheme of site security that protects beneficiaries and staff and the assets of the charity.
- To act as one of key points of contact between the charity and external organisations such as the police and local authority in relation to site security.
Team Management
- Provides effective leadership and support to team members.
- Works to support the Assistant Director (Land & Property) to achieve team and organisational objectives and priorities.
- Prioritises and allocates workload; takes appropriate action to ensure team performance including undertaking appraisals and regular one-to-one meetings with team members.
- Ensures that any directly managed staff are highly motivated and possess required skills and abilities by identifying development needs and providing support to develop the skills and knowledge of team members.
Budget Management
- Takes responsibility for relevant facilities budgets as directed and ensures cost centres are monitored appropriately to manage within budget and identify cost pressures and savings opportunities without detriment to service delivery.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in health or care or a related market (public sector); working in consultancy, estates and/ or facilities/business management.
- Responsible for buildings compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare management, estate/facilities or other related field required OR four years of equivalent experience in a directly related field OR Qualified Chartered surveyor.
