Regional Operations Manager - Security

The Regional Security Operations Manager is the leader of the security strategy, it is vital that this role ensures the consistent high standards of security, safety, and customer care always to staff, assets and visitors on site.

As a part of this process, all members of the site security team are required to ensure effort-less and effective day-to-day running of the site. The Security Operations Manager is to maintain excellent communication with the Management team and ensure the agreed level of service is achieved as a minimum, to motivate the security team, identify training needs and develop their respective team's skills.

What we need from you

  • Valid SIA Licence
  • Valid Drivers Licence (No more than 6 penalty points)
  • Located in the north Midlands Area (Travel & Overnight stays possible)

The Job Role

  • To Manage and maintain relations on all sites under your control this role covers regions accross the country with sites located around that area
  • Conduct periodic site visits to ensure that all staff are following procedure and check in with key stakeholders on the site that standards are met and we are maintaining relations
  • Conduct staff appraisals, disciplinaries & other meetings
  • To ensure the best provided provisions of security and safety is delivered to the client's premises, brand partners, teams, contractors, and visitors.
  • To protect the assets of the client by following recognised best practice techniques/procedures governed by MITIE & client.
  • To effectively organise and manage all security team workloads as required without compromising quality of service provision.
  • To always ensure security team members are deployed effectively to post, operate all the required systems and conduct all required functions. Working in conjunction with the Site Lead by ensuring the seamless delivery of exceptional service standards to internal/external customers.
  • Deploy and manage all security team members throughout their Time under your stewardship. Ensure that security team members are always correctly dressed, that tasks are correctly allocated and performed and that incidents are effectively handled.
  • To continually review the site's security strategy, finding best practice in the industry and implementing as necessary.
  • To maintain an effective duty of care to security team members ensuring that all required procedures/policies relevant to: Health & Safety at Work legislation, Staff Welfare & Development Training, Disciplinary & Grievance, Discriminatory & Harassment, Alcohol & Drug Misuse, & Equal Opportunities are correctly explained and followed, thus serving the best interests of the employee, MITIE, and the client team.
  • Undertake fair and efficient duty rostering of the team including allocating annual leave and overtime duties to prescribed procedures. Implement the company performance management mechanism which should include the periodic monthly/annual progress reviews and complete probation reports for subordinates to prescribed deadlines.
  • Monitor attendance and time-keeping records and take any required remedial action where necessary. Investigate and report to senior line management on disciplinary and grievance matters whilst providing leadership and support to sustain good team morale.
  • Participate and contribute positively to the security team management. Attend meetings as required and provide reports and recommendations on the activities of the security operation
  • Be committed to Health & Safety and ensure that you are familiar with all MITIE/client Health & Safety policies and procedures. Police and encourage observance with all site security & safety policies, in particular ensuring that the access control, key control, smoking, and Health & Safety policies are observed and enforced.
  • Manage and control the response to all incidents in a timely and effective manner by directing the security team members. At all times the central aim should be to safeguard the assets of the client, ensuring that direction from senior line management is sought where appropriate. Activate in part or in whole the client Emergency Response Plan where applicable.
  • Ensure that the maintenance of records is conducted from which daily situation reports and handovers can be compiled and made available to senior line management. Maintain other such records as directed by senior line management to ensure that a full transparency of events and their handling is possible.
  • Ensure all patrolling and duty officers have the necessary equipment required to complete all their duty tasks in a safe and competent manner. Patrolling officers should always carry a two-way radio, any required keys for the areas concerned, and their Personal notebook (PNB)
  • Have an awareness and understanding of the company's Corporate Responsibility Strategy and make a positive contribution to the local communities attending meetings and striving to meet targets and goals which will be given when candidate is appointed.

Our Ideal Person

  • Experienced security leader having a ‘can do' attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Have an excellent knowledge of security manning and CCTV systems/legislation.
  • IT literate with working knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • Able to deliver transformational change.
  • Sets and maintains very high standards of delivery – attention to detail essential..
  • Experience of writing detailed monthly reports in the format requested by the Integrated Service Manager
  • Diligent, professional, and flexible
  • High degree of self-motivation and dedication to achieving excellence
  • Effectively manages staff performance, provides regular and constructive feedback.
  • Have a flexible approach as the security operation is 24 hours, and some weekend working and out of hours working will be required.
  • An understanding of Counter Terrorism Risks.
