Worcestershire County Council are currently seeking a Family Support Worker to join their team based in Worcester. They are a well-established organization committed to providing support to children, young people, and families in need.
About the Role
The Family Support Worker will be responsible for supporting children, young people, and families where there is a Child In Need Plan in place. The successful candidate will work closely with families where children are deemed to be on the edge of Local Authority care. The main activities and responsibilities of the role include:
- Carrying out direct work and support for children, including pre-school children, their parents, and/or other relatives/carers as part of an assessment, plan, or review.
- Encouraging and empowering parents/carers to take responsibility for meeting the needs of their children.
- Developing a better understanding of child development and needs within parents and carers.
- Helping support the care of children and within their families through the provision of parenting support.
- Working with families where there is a high risk of family breakdown.
- Helping keep children safe through assessment and planning processes.
- Working in partnership with other agencies as part of the 'team around the family'.
- Working flexibly based on the needs of children and families.
- Undertaking work outside of normal office hours and at weekends.
- Working closely with Children and Families Social Workers as part of agreed plans for children.
- Complying with Worcestershire Children First Safeguarding policies and procedures and keeping written records and producing reports.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- A relevant qualification in social work, youth work, or a related field.
- Experience working with children, young people, and families in need.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
