I am currently hiring for the following role: Female Support Worker needed in Lowestoft- Supported Living Accomodation.
Please note we do not offer sponsorship or relocation.
You must have 12 months UK care experience. Full employment history is required on your CV.
Job Description:
We provide nurturing, family-orientated homes for care leavers. This Supported Living service supports young people to achieve their potential and gain the skills needed ready for independent living when they turn 18.
We offer support for all level of needs, from low level guidance to those who need a higher level support around the clock.
Every young person is unique, we tailor our support packages around the individual needs of every young person.
Qualities & skills required
To have a sense of humour, be self-motivated, have the ability to listen and empathise, Be honest, reliable, punctual, Have excellent communication skills, be able to engage with young people in a positive and proactive way, Be self-organised, Have the ability to assess risks, Be respectful and understanding.
Essential Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS or willing to have one completed by us
- Applicants ideally have NVQ 2 or diploma in either: Health and Social Care Experience or willing to work towards
- Support/Youth Work Practice Experience
- Applicant must ideally have a minimum 12-month experience or working in similar social care provisions.
- All applicants must be fluent in English
Your Role:
- Support young people to settle into the accommodation and local community & help young people locate all the local resources.
- To show empathy, understanding and warmth to all young people, to be observant but not judgmental.
- Support and monitor the young people’s ability to engage with everyday living skills, identifying their needs where necessary.
- Support young people in accessing education, training or employment.
- To support and assist young people with budgeting money, grocery shopping and manage their weekly allowance, promote healthy eating and exercise, Advise and give guidance to healthy hygiene, give guidance and advise on how to promote healthy relationships, and educating on dangers of drugs, drinking, sexual health and how to keep safe, this will be managed and recorded using short courses and programmes that we have onsite.
- To encourage the young persons to engage and take part with local activities and events where possible.
- Be able to confidently work alone and be part of a team
- Maintain confidentiality of young people and report any concerns regarding young person’s welfare to your house manager.
Due to the vulnerability of our young persons a robust vetting process is required for the successful applicants, therefore you must be able to provide the following,
- UK passport/Residence Permit to work in the UK
- NI
- Undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) through our agency or 3rd Party DBS on update service
- Proof of address
- Qualifications i.e. NVQ
- Provide 2 written references.
- Provide work history for the last 5 years with explanations of any gaps.
- A copy of insurance cover that includes business use, a copy of proof that the vehicle is taxed, has an MOT and is appropriately serviced
- Valid UK driving license
