Job description

Job Advert
We are looking for Compassionate and caring Support Workers to join our Service based in Yeovil. We have full time and Part time opportunities on a permanent basis.
About our Service
This role will be supporting individuals who live in two Services based in Yeovil. We currently support three gentlemen in one service and a lady and a gentleman in the other Service.
The people we support are full of life, friendly sociable, independent and fun! They like to be included in decisions given choices and options; not to be rushed and always treated with respect and dignity. They like lots of different activities, swimming, watching football, going out for coffee at different coffee shops, watching television, going to see live bands and WWF are just some of the activities they enjoy!
They are looking for their new Support Worker to be reliable, friendly, patient and in particular to take them out to discos! They are also looking for support with maintaining a clean and tidy home, medication, personal finances and some personal care.
As a Support Worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings, evenings, sleep ins and weekends (You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £61.20 for any sleep in shifts carried out. The payment for sleep ins is non-contractual). The best thing about flexibility is it is a two-way street, while we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you’ll have your own commitments and we will try to factor this into our rotas.
What does a Support Worker do?
As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life. You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality. Typical responsibilities may include:
- Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
- Excellent communication skills and Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
- Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
- Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day. This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
