We currently have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to take on the important role of Field Scientist.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support to operational teams, maintaining regulatory compliance, and meeting internal business targets.
You will also be expected to undertake activities such as water quality monitoring from the source to service reservoir, investigating water quality failures or events at company assets and providing recommendations to both internal and external departments on corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. You will also be responsible for providing technical support to Production, Network and Capital Delivery Schemes in order to ensure that water quality requirements are met and undertaking out of hours technical support.

What you’ll be doing as the Field Scientist
- Working in the Operations sector of the business (clean water production team) acting as an advisor to a specific production team
- Investigate and report on infringements, feedback remedial actions and share learnings to the Operations Teams
- Provide support to Capex schemes/Projects as required
- Develop professional working relationships with Operations, Engineering, and other internal customers
- Close liaison with other water quality monitoring teams (such as catchment, groundwater, regulatory response etc)
- Identify developments / optimisations that may improve asset performance or the business and suggest initiatives to the team and/or line manager
- Providing regular water quality reports and data to operational teams to support decision making and project schemes
Working Pattern or hours: 36 hours
What you should bring to the role
- HNC or Degree (or equivalent) in a Scientific or Engineering discipline.
- Ideally have experience in water treatment processes, supply or regulation. Desirable
- Problem Solving is a crucial part of this role and any previous experience in this area would be highly beneficial
- Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are also key to this role as you will be liaising with internal stakeholders within Thames Water on a day-to-day basis.
- Travel to other sites is required as a major part of this role thus a driving license is essential.
- The ability to work in a logical and analytical manner and be able to maintain a positive and professional approach is also essential.
- Competitive salary up to £40,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
- Development training package provided.
- 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service (Plus bank holidays)
