The Fix It Now (FIN) Team Leader is responsible for managing, controlling, and supervising the FUTURES shift maintenance team. The FIN team comprises of a multi disciplined team, including Mechanical Fitters, Electrical and Instrumentation and Process workers.
The team is primarily responsible for efficiently rectifying breakdowns and conducting routine scheduled maintenance activities in a safe and compliant manner, while upholding high standards and quality. This work is crucial for ensuring the facility can operate effectively and efficiently, thus maintaining the delivery of business operations. Additionally, the FIN Team Leader is accountable for providing technical support to deliver expertise in general plant, system, and equipment reliability, or other specialist subject matter necessary to support the Windscale Laboratory shift program.
Main Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities for FIN Team Leader (Shifts):
- Responsible for distributing team workload, organising the team in response to unplanned events, emergent breakdowns and manage workload across the team.
- Responsible for analysing the resource requirements for emerging work, provide forecasts of manning levels due to absences etc.
- Ensure that instructions, materials, tools and equipment required by the team are available.
- Issue and communicate safety documentation/information to their team.
- Responsible for producing and communicating development plans for all team members and take action to ensure they are being delivered.
- Accountable to the Shift Delivery Lead for ensuring all maintenance and rectification tasks are clearly briefed, understood, performed safely and on schedule to ensure safe operation of the facility.
- Comply with legislative, regulatory and company procedures and standards e.g. safety, quality, risk, security appropriate to the role.
- Responsible for ensuring the delivery of work complies with all site requirements and plant and personnel are operating within the safety envelope.
- Responsible for team and individual performance. Performance of staff must be managed and monitored via Performance and Development Review process.
- Responsible for overseeing both their own and their teams training requirements and when needed providing training plans for staff.
- Ensure effective handover and hand back arrangements are in place with other FIN Team Leaders.
- Liaise with Multi disciplined Engineers on any plant upgrades or improvements, ensuring that any improvements/upgrades are adequately maintained.
- Responsible for ensuring that team and individual training takes place to agreed standards and timescales.
Ideal Candidate
Essential Criteria for FIN Team Leader (Shifts):
- Craft Apprenticeship.
- A thorough awareness of conventional safety requirements applicable to their area of responsibility.
- Ability to demonstrate supervisory experience for operations.
- Strong communications skills, ability to communicate key information with customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
- Ability to demonstrate conservative decision making, even in pressure situations Demonstrable knowledge of operational & maintenance requirements.
- Evidence of self-motivation with demonstrable levels of drive, energy and resilience.
- Requirement to become appointed as Task Supervisor.
- Requirement to become appointed as Originator.
- Requirement to become appointed as Subcontractor Supervisor.
- Requirement to become appointed as Lift Supervisor.
- Ability to carry out line management responsibilities and hold staff to account in relation to both technical and behavioural competence.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).
Desirable Criteria for FIN Team Leader (Shifts):
- A thorough awareness of nuclear and security requirements applicable to their area of responsibility.
- Hold IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
- Good general safety case awareness with demonstrable knowledge of nuclear safety mechanisms (SM), safety related equipment (SRE) and Safety Features (SF).
- Ability to interface on a technical level with Design and Capability teams.
