We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join the Team in Surrey to lead the Planned Works team, manage and maintain the structural integrity, safety and levels of service across the Surrey Network. You will also ensure that the planned and projects tasks are delivered safely and to a high standard, meeting industry and contractual requirements whilst considering planning and budgeting constraints.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities
- To manage the operations in line with budget and business plans.
- To manage programmes ensuring workload is effectively managed to deliver service excellence, aligned to the requirements of the Term Partnering contract.
- Manage operational health, safety, and environmental matters and promote service improvements.
- Develop, implement and improve the Plans and Strategies associated with the planned works delivery in Surrey.
- Represent the Highway Service at meetings with Surrey County Council and key stakeholder groups such as local businesses, neighbouring Authorities and public inquiries etc.
- To monitor the satisfaction of clients and work through our quality management system to feed this monitoring through the business planning cycle.
- Provide a responsive, customer-focused maintenance and operations service.
- Ensure compliance with the business and Authority’s policies and strategies.
- Ensure that Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH Assessments are carried out in a timely way and that any improvement activities are fully resourced to deliver best value.
- Develop, promote and oversee recycling activities and carbon and water reduction targets.
- Attend and Participate in Team and Annual Briefings
- Manage operations to achieve the performance targets set within the Contract.
- Deliver the business plan objectives and support the Senior Operations Manager in operational objectives.
Requirements for the role:
- Experience of highways maintenance or a related field
- Previous team leadership / management experience

- Minimum 10 years’ experience in management of highway construction or related activities
