We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Finance Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting various financial activities, providing valuable insights and analysis to drive informed decision-making across the organisation.
Your main responsibilities
- Weekly category sales and margin performance for the two business units within the Retail division
- Interrogating various data sources to identify trends and drivers and creating scenario models to support management decision-making.
- Analysing performance versus plan and providing MI to support the analysis.
- Reconciling expected performance versus actual performance in the general ledgers
- Assisting the Trading team with making sure that billing timelines are adhered to
- Supplier Debt analysis to highlight, with the Trading team, delays in the collection of Supplier and Retrospective Income
- Meeting prep for the various weekly trading reviews
- Assist in the development of the various reporting suites, building Excel models, KPI packs and dashboards, using a variety of data sources including data warehouses, financial ledgers, and planning systems.
- Contribute to elements of both Trading and Retail forecasts, challenging teams were necessary to derive robust and accurate planning.
- Investigating price errors within Retail and Wholesale data.
- Reconciling commercial reporting data with monthly management accounts
About you
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and solve complex financial problems.
- Strong commercial background, gained either via an industry route (ideally Retail or FMCG sectors)
- Proven ability to build productive business relationships with a wide network of finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Proficient in coordinating work between multiple stakeholders and delivering information to exacting deadlines with attention to detail.
- Robust, enthusiastic, and proactive in setting own agenda and driving results in a fast-paced retailer.
- Intellectual curiosity to understand the financial and non-financial drivers of the business and their implications for decision-makers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication style and a proven ability to influence a variety of senior stakeholders.
- Strong MS Excel skills, home in an environment of operating and interrogating financial forecasting models.
- Comfortable handling large volumes of data with good attention to detail
