Finance Analyst

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Finance Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting various financial activities, providing valuable insights and analysis to drive informed decision-making across the organisation. 

Your main responsibilities

• Weekly category sales and margin performance for the two business units within the Retail division
• Interrogating various data sources to identify trends and drivers and creating scenario models to support management decision-making.
• Analysing performance versus plan and providing MI to support the analysis.
• Reconciling expected performance versus actual performance in the general ledgers
• Assisting the Trading team with making sure that billing timelines are adhered to
• Supplier Debt analysis to highlight, with the Trading team, delays in the collection of Supplier and Retrospective Income
• Meeting prep for the various weekly trading reviews
• Assist in the development of the various reporting suites, building Excel models, KPI packs and dashboards, using a variety of data sources including data warehouses, financial ledgers, and planning systems.
• Contribute to elements of both Trading and Retail forecasts, challenging teams were necessary to derive robust and accurate planning.
• Investigating price errors within Retail and Wholesale data.
• Reconciling commercial reporting data with monthly management accounts

About you 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and solve complex financial problems.
• Strong commercial background, gained either via an industry route (ideally Retail or FMCG sectors)
• Proven ability to build productive business relationships with a wide network of finance and non-finance colleagues.
• Proficient in coordinating work between multiple stakeholders and delivering information to exacting deadlines with attention to detail.
• Robust, enthusiastic, and proactive in setting own agenda and driving results in a fast-paced retailer.
• Intellectual curiosity to understand the financial and non-financial drivers of the business and their implications for decision-makers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication style and a proven ability to influence a variety of senior stakeholders.
• Strong MS Excel skills, home in an environment of operating and interrogating financial forecasting models.
• Comfortable handling large volumes of data with good attention to detail
