Better still, the team around you will listen to your ideas and opinions, and you’ll have every chance to try something new. The sheer scale and complexity of our set-up means there’s always something else around the corner, and we’ll help and support you every step of the way. We’re trusted to get on with it. So get ready to make things happen here.
Why join us
Electric Vehicle (EV) ownership is heading towards the millions, and we want to make sure our customers can get an ultra-rapid charge whenever and wherever they are. It’ll make us one of the top suppliers in the country. And you could be part of that, working with a new and exciting EV charging team, Smart Charge, to deliver the business strategy to be at the forefront of rapid and reliable charging across the UK.
By joining our Finance team at Sainsbury's, you'll work collaboratively to drive, partner, and protect our business in the ever-changing world of retail. Our focus is on maximising sales, profit, return on investment and cash flow alongside our non-financial objectives.
With a focus on value creation and performance improvement, you'll provide valuable insights and analysis to influence decisions and drive actions. We offer a supportive and collaborative environment, where you'll have the autonomy to excel in your role as a professional accountant, while also enjoying work-life balance and flexibility in line with your needs. Join us and be part of the team to become a driving force in the EV Charging industry.
What you'll do
Your role will be focused on supporting the EV Charging team and driving value creation by providing insights, analysis, and commentary. You will run and interpret management reports to deliver timely insights to stakeholders, identifying risks, anomalies, and opportunities to be flagged for prioritisation. Adhering to timelines and processes, you will collaborate with the business to manage forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis. Additionally, you will build strong business cases, support post-implementation reviews, and assist in managing project budgets when required. Your success in this role will be measured by your ability to enhance performance, drive incremental income, improve ROI, and effectively manage cost lines, ultimately contributing to the continuous growth and success of our finance function.
Who you are
You are a professionally qualified accountant or actively studying towards a qualification, demonstrating your commitment to excellence in financial management. With a strong analytical mindset, you possess advanced Excel and numerical skills, allowing you to transform complex data into meaningful insights and communicate them effectively to stakeholders of varying financial and commercial understanding. Your commercial acumen enables you to identify risks, opportunities, and anomalies, supporting the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Managers in driving strategic decision-making and value creation for the Commercial teams. With a track record of strong financial control and the ability to maintain a disciplined environment, you are a self-motivated team player who excels in autonomous work settings and possesses excellent problem-solving abilities.
We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer, so you’ll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there’s always the chance to try something new - whether that’s as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we’ll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them:
Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to get 10% off at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat after 4 weeks. This increases to 15% off at Sainsbury’s every Friday and Saturday and 15% off at Argos every pay day. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 10% of salary, depending on how we perform.
Your wellbeing is important to us too. You'll receive an annual holiday allowance, and you can buy additional holiday. We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, pay advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an employee assistance programme.
Moments that matter are as important to us as they are to you which is why we give up to 26 weeks’ pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks’ pay for paternity leave.
Please see www.sainsburys.jobs for a range of our benefits (note, length of service and eligibility criteria may apply).
