Finance Analyst - Operations

The main purpose of the role will be to act as an effective business partner to Operations, Commercial and New Product Development teams. You will also assist the Operations and Commercial Controller with analytical review, analysis, commentary and be part of key new business and improvement plan, focus on business process improvement.
All roles are responsible for enforcing our standards to maintain our customers trust and protecting the company brand and our customers’ brand integrity.
This role will suit a part-qualified ACCA/CIMA studier or potentially someone aspiring to study towards their professional qualification. You will ideally come from a manufacturing/FMCG background and be familiar with standard costings and business partnering with operational teams.
Key Accountabilities
- Year on year product standard costing and related changes supported by insightful analysis
- Timely and accurate month end close along with relevant departmental commentaries.
- Monthly material variance analysis with root cause analysis to drive corrective actions by operations
- Be an effective business partner to NPD team, attend NPD meetings, understand new business wins & risks and deliver on related support
- Act as a business partner to Factory Operations departments and attend weekly factory meetings along with monthly reviews
- Prepare and distribute weekly operational reporting and related variance analysis including Labour
- Customer promotions and SG&A spend forecasting and month end support
- Drive and support continuous improvement for the NPD and annual standard costing exercise
- Be an effective bridge between commercial and operations finance and wider teams
- Support commercial Finance Analyst for key commercial projects
- Support operations controller with ad-hoc projects
- To support in the development and delivery of operation financial reports to local operation managers
- To provide external reporting to National Statistics Surveys
- Liaison with Financial Accountant re NPD/R&D tax claims
- Engage with wider operations and finance team to provide ad-hoc support when needed
- Holiday cover for Operational Controller and Senior Commercial Analyst
- Ad-hoc finance and analysis support to wider finance team
Skills and Knowledge
- Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information with good attention to detail
- Abreast with NPD and Standard costing principals
- Familiar with commercial tender processes
- Able to investigate key deviations to set financial targets and related prognosis
- Able to develop excel based dash boards and related models for wider business
- Local expert in company costing policy
- IT proficient with intermediate/advanced Excel skills
