As the Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of business objectives by providing planning & analysis, accounting, reporting and costing support to inform decision-making and drive financial performance.

This role will be primarily working with the Robotics area of the business, it is a fast-paced, varied and exciting portfolio of projects that you would be supporting. You will be joining a team of four people who you will work closely with, sharing workload amongst you where appropriate to meet business needs.

To be successful in this role, you will have to actively engage with your stakeholders, embedding yourself within the business area and be able to quickly flex your focus around the highest priority tasks.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Preparation and analysis of month-end accounts, ensuring accurate recognition of expenditure & revenue in accordance with UKAEA financial policy.
- Support the business budgeting and forecast processes, and build productive relationships with project managers and senior managers to enable the creation of robust budgets and periodic forecasts at project and at a consolidated business unit level.
- To produce formal financial customer reports and liaise with auditors (UK and European) in order to facilitate payment for work performed.
- Support the maintenance of a robust control environment, including responsibility for relevant balance sheet accounts appropriate to the business area, such as prepayments, accruals, Work in Progress, and Income in Advance are fully reconciled with adequate supporting documentation available for audit purposes.
- Liaise with the Capital Project Accountant over the reporting of capital expenditure, and ensure clarity as to spending and reasons for variances.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

- At least part-qualified, qualified by experience, or working towards a qualification in a relevant professional accounting body;
- Experience working closely with business teams in a “Business Partner” capacity
- To understand the principles of revenue recognition
- To have an appreciation of multi-funding control requirements
- Highly proficient in Excel and have experience with an ERP accounting system [Unit 4 (Agresso) would be an advantage]
- Able to work on occasion to challenging timescales while still ensuring accuracy
