The Finance Business Partner works in the Chief Engineer group, working specifically in Network Build Engineering (NBE), with responsibility for the Civils area.
This position is part of a team at the heart of BT Group's most significant strategic investment, which involves delivering Full Fibre across the nation, including remote Rural areas. Collaborating closely with the business, the Finance Business Partner contributes to developing innovative solutions for deploying fibre in challenging locations.
It is an exciting and influential role, involving direct engagement with multiple directors and their teams, supporting the DL Civils team and various capital expenditure (capex) programs. This allows the role holder to gain in-depth knowledge of the business dynamics central to the Group's strategy, granting opportunities to influence critical business judgements and participate in one of the UK's largest infrastructure initiatives. The Finance Business Partner works as an integral part of the broader Openreach Chief Engineer Finance Team.

You'll have the following responsibilities
- Responsible for managing the financial aspects of the Civils Profit and Loss (P&L), overseeing approximately £200 million.
- Offer financial and commercial support for business cases within the Network Build Engineering (NBE) division.
- Communicate effectively and manage stakeholders, including business wide operational teams involved in project delivery, safety programs and various capital programmes.
- Collaborate across functions to understand and model the long-term delivery plan, providing crucial financial insights for informed decision-making.
- Analyse and explain the financial impact of Civils performance on wider business programs.
- Take ownership of monthly reporting, outlook, and Medium-Term Plan (MTP) for the Civils Direct Labor (DL) team.
- Manage a diverse range of financial responsibilities, establishing connections between operational metrics (e.g., productivity, volume) and financial performance.
- Accountable for managing EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation) for the Civils DL team, ensuring the team meets financial targets.
- Provide comprehensive reporting and investigate to facilitate judgements, optimising the utilisation and balance of Direct Labor and subcontractor capacity for programs.
- You will be a Qualified accountant or qualified through experience.
- Experience of positively influencing business performance, by using data, commentary and analysis to inform decision making
- Pragmatic team player, adept at holding others to account through a challenging and supportive leadership style, whilst consistently delivering on their own commitments
- Sponsors/guides the planning, facilitation and completion of FD sponsored finance programmes
- Champions and manages conflicting priorities with ownership of successful delivery of key organisation-wide finance programmes
- Sets agendas, identifies opportunities and promotes the highest standards of best practice and provides insight on finance work area(s) or specialism
