What you need to do
  • Support & Challenge - representing Finance at the Technology and Change cost centre meetings/being the Business Partner to the Chief Transformation Officer, will be responsible for providing financial support, insight and challenge on financial performance of Technology Operating costs and the Change Investment portfolio. This includes inputs into the Exco Quarterly Business Review meetings (QBR)
  • Change Portfolio - work with project managers to track project financials (including benefits) with responsibility for ensuring accuracy and appropriate capitalisation in line with Sainsbury's Bank corporate accounting standards.
  • Scenario planning / desktop forecasts - monthly rolling forecast to facilitate the understanding of the cost base and the ongoing risks and opportunities and how this impacts the full year out turn projection. Assist in the delivery of plans to support the bank in driving efficiency and value for money.
  • Challenge assumptions - through analysis of trends and other MI available combined with judgment and expertise to deliver realistic, challenging and balanced forecasts and budgets. Review outputs for accuracy.
  • Planning - Co-ordinate and process information from various sources to ensure the delivery of all aspects of the annual planning cycle and regular forecasting processes.. Work across all stakeholders to understand and minimise ambiguity in future product performance. Use judgment and expertise to set challenging yet achievable budgets and forecasts within the context of wider Bank strategy
  • Continuous Improvement - work independently to develop/simplify existing models and processes to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Relationship Management - act as primary point of contact within finance for your cost areas. You will be responsible for ensuring that business developments are shared with appropriate finance colleagues, and are financially robust.
  • Ad Hoc - provide ad hoc support across the Finance team as required.
  • Lead, manage and coach - across wider team.
What you need to know and show
  • Qualified Accountant (preferable) with practical experience of financial reporting and management accounting or have strong financial modelling qualifications and commercial experience.
  • Proven experience of working in a change environment
  • Tableau and/or Power BI skills would be beneficial
  • A prior knowledge of financial services would be advantageous
  • Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail (including excel knowledge).
  • Excellent team player demonstrating strong relationship management skills with an ability to work closely with others to deliver results
  • Customer focused
  • Proven track record of working on own initiative, demonstrating an ability to think and reason logically with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
  • Excellent written communication (business and project reports) and an ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation , e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level
