Here at Serco, we're looking for an ambitious Finance Business Partner to support Serco business leaders to deliver profitable and sustainable growth for services at our new prison HMP Fosse Way. You will be responsible for providing dedicated, commercial, and financial decision support aligned to strategic and customer priorities, to win good business and improve shareholder value. You will work with this specific contract to challenge assumptions, influence decisions, and make recommendations for efficiency improvements to sustain growth.
HMP Fosse Way is a new build Category 'C' resettlement prison near Leicester, which will house up to 1,715 prisoners. It opened in early 2023 and will be fully operational in Q2 2024. As a resettlement prison, HMP Fosse Way will have a strong focus on rehabilitation with an emphasis on safety, security and decency and will have a range of fully integrated services designed to reduce re-offending and prepare prisoners for release and transition back into the community.
Serco are responsible for management, operation, and maintenance of the prison and employ a workforce of around 550 employees.
As part of this you'll:
- Demonstrate ownership and responsibility of financial performance - c. £40m-£50m ACV
- Provide finance and commercial decision support to the Contract Director and SLT
- Build strong relationships with the HMP Fosse Way customer to negotiate and resolve outstanding commercial items
- Play a key role in bidding for organic growth
- Ensure transition from Prison ramp-up to steady state is smooth through working collaboratively with the Serco team and customer
- Support the delivery of any contract specific margin improvement initiatives
- Ensure appropriate scrutiny of all KPI's to ensure robust reporting and drive the business to minimise financial impacts
- Lead the finance aspects of any in contract growth opportunities
- Commercially minded and customer focused
- Evidence of working with external customers is essential
- A track record of collaborating with business leaders in a complex business environment
- Evidence of ability to influence, negotiate, listen to and resolve conflicts with key decision makers
- Proven ability to highlight problems, offer innovative and practical solutions, and drive through your execution
- Strong commercial acumen, as well as a strong understanding of the relationships between key financial and non-financial business value drivers
- Ability to interpret and deal with incomplete data; and the capability to exercise judgement where there is ambiguity
- The successful applicant must be able to show evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Have a flexible approach to working and a willingness and ability to travel regularly within the UK
