Where and who will you be working with?
Maybe you were on the fence when you were going to, or graduating from University and consider a career in education and developing the minds of the next generation of leaders and thought "Could I be a teacher?" but you soon realised that teaching was probably not for you or you decided that your passion was more to engage people with finance rather than children with the national curriculum. You might however have always fancied the idea of working in a school or in and environment where you are contributing positively to the world rather than simply lining the pockets of shareholders - here is an opportunity to do just that!
You'll be joining a growing Multi-Academy Trust dedicated to providing high-quality education to students across their academies. As they continue to expand and make a positive impact on the lives of young people, they are seeking a skilled Regional Finance Director on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to join their finance team and support their mission of providing great education across the region.
What will you be doing?
As the Regional Finance Director, you will provide operational leadership, financial management support, and advice to the academies within your Region. You will be a key member of the finance team, contributing to the Trust's decision-making process and ensuring efficient and effective operational and business management across the academies.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading financial planning, budgetary control, and internal and external audit processes within the Region
- Being accountable for the effective management of the Region's financial resources and providing technical advice on financial and commercial matters
- Proactively seeking out and recommending improvements to processes within the Region and across the Trust
- Providing coaching, guidance, and support to staff with financial responsibilities and arranging training and development where required
- Developing relationships across the Trust and leveraging benefits for children, staff, and communities in the Region
- Supporting the appraisal of opportunities to expand the number of academies within the Trust and evaluating the financial implications of potential incoming academies
- Ensuring prompt and timely preparation of regular management accounts, budget re-forecasts, and reporting to the CFO, senior management team, and local governing bodies
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the Trust's financial policies, procedures, and systems
As a Regional Finance Director, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Appropriate Professional Qualification ACCA / CIMA / ACA / CIPFA
- Minimum five years' experience in a Senior Finance role, including two with line management responsibility
- Experience of operating within an education or service sector environment
- Ideally previous experience of MAT or group accounting
What's on offer for you?
In addition to the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people and contribute to the growth and success of the Trust, there is comprehensive benefits package on offer:
- A competitive salary range of £68,000 - 78,000 depending upon experience
- Flexible working and hybrid working available, but with regular site meetings in person across the West Yorkshire region so you'll be likely onsite at your main school site around 3 days per week.
- Onsite parking at all locations
- Local government pension scheme
- 31 days holiday plus statutory days
- Other staff benefits including EAP and cycle to work
