Finance Director

The Finance Director is a very important strategic and operational role at the heart of a business.

Working closely with the MD and the Commercial Director, the Finance Director is expected to assume full responsibility for all financial aspects of the company’s business.  This involves analysing financial performance, advising the Senior Management Team on these findings and implementing recommendations to achieve the most profitable results for the business.

We are looking for a Finance Director who is an outstanding accountant, possessing exceptional commercial acumen and strategic business insight.  As an operational leader, the Finance Director will support the various business divisions, guiding them in planning and managing their departmental budgets.

Finance Director responsibilities

The Finance Director is accountable for day-to-day operations and long-term strategy.  They will be asked to:

• Implement robust financial systems and processes
• Lead the budgeting, forecasting and planning process
• Support senior teams to create growth strategies and plans
• Forge strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
• Advise the MD and Senior Management Team on all matters relating to financial performance and profitability enhancement opportunities
• Prepare annual accounts and work with external auditors as needed
• Control all financial and accountancy matters across the company in all the countries it operates, including month end reports, management accounts, cash flow management, statutory accounts, compliance, taxes, presentation of management information and KPIs
• Support the business through change and growth periods, coordinating corporate finance, debt, taxation and equity investments, as appropriate
• Identify any finance software required and work with the rest of the team to identify and implement a company-wide ERP when/ if required
• Prepare investment presentations and board meeting packs, and present when needed
• Identify any key insurances required for the business
• Ensure the regulatory, legal, accounting and tax requirements of all statutory bodies are met
• Lead and motivate the finance team

Requirements

• Fully qualified (ACCA/ CIMA / ACA) and highly experienced
• Strong track record leading the finance department at high growth companies
• Ideally experienced working with Shopify and accounting systems such as Xero and more advanced ERP systems
• Exceptional commercial acumen and business knowledge
• Outstanding analytical, excel and powerpoint skills
• Great team player and strong management skills
• Very strong communication skills with people at all levels and an ability to influence senior stakeholders
• Pro-active, decisive, adaptable with an ability to operate in a fast paced environment
• Unquestionable integrity and a commitment to outstanding governance
• Native or proficient in English
