We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our team, offering a pivotal role in maintaining the financial and operational aspects of our educational establishment. With a turnover of £3.5 million and a staff of 75, the successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of our financial operations, supporting our teaching staff in delivering an excellent all-round education.
Day to Day of the Role:- Oversee billing of parents for fees and extras.
- Administer payroll, pensions, and related tax documents for all staff.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, ensuring financial stability.
- Liaise with banking institutions regarding relevant financial matters.
- Produce termly management accounts, budgets, cashflows, and forecasts for the Board of Governors.
- Maintain and update financial software systems.
- Coordinate and oversee the annual financial audit.
- Manage purchase ledger payments and authorise school invoices for payment.
- Work closely with the HR manager on recruitment and salary issues.
- Coordinate outside lettings and holiday clubs.
- Manage contracts with external IT providers and cleaning companies.
- Source and renew operating leases and insurance policies.
- Order resources for various departments within the school.
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably within an educational setting (desirable but not essential).
- Strong understanding of payroll, pensions, and budgeting.
- Ability to produce accurate financial reports and forecasts.
- Competency in financial software and systems.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with guidance from senior management.
- Supervisory experience, overseeing at least one part-time colleague.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
The successful candidate will possess the following experience and personal attributes:
- Expertise in financial management in a small or medium-sized business is essential; experience gained in an educational setting would be desirable
- Knowledge of WCBS Pass Finance would be desirable
