Job description

Northern Healthcare provides mental health recovery services across many regions within the UK. Our services consist of Supported Living and community outreach services which provide our residents with access to 24 hr support from experienced clinical and support staff.
We support over 150 adults across the UK in all aspects of their daily lives and mental health recovery. Currently our services are based across the Northwest, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Midlands.
We are currently looking to recruit a Finance Manager for a Maternity Cover. The role will be managing the day to day operations of the Finance department overseeing all areas including Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Cash Management, Procurement, Payroll and On-Site Cash procedures, whilst also providing support to the Finance Director to fulfill the obligations of the company and the directors.
The role of the Finance manager is key to the successful performance of the Finance department. The post holder will have a wealth of experience in all areas of financial accounting and reporting whilst also being an experienced and effective manager who can promote a positive culture of support and continued success.
As we are a growing business this document will need to be updated annually to incorporate any changes that occur each year and the post holder is expected to take responsibility for all financial matters many of which cannot be captured in this JD
Effectively manage 2 direct reports (Sales Ledger Manager and Assistant Finance Manager) and oversee the rest of the Finance team 6/7 FTE.
Lead on their personal development and performance management.
Oversee the performance of Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Cash Management & Procurement always striving to make improvements where possible.
Maintain accounting controls, procedures and compliance with external audit requirements in mind.
Assist with the preparation of Monthly and Quarterly financial reporting.
Analysing financial performance and contributing to the medium- and long-term strategies in planning budgets and forecasts.
Manage the daily cash flow of the company and ensure spending is kept in line with budgets and forecasts.
Attend and participate in senior management and regional finance meetings.
Oversee invoices received for voids and rent to ensure accurately billed in line with tenancies/licences.
Authorising and approving purchase orders up to £2000.
Overseeing and approving manual individual bank payments up to £5000, upload first stage payment run and payroll bulk payment files.
Take responsibility for the production of the monthly payroll figures for the external payroll provider and become the point of contact for all payroll issues.
Coordinate finance training of all unit staff in collaboration with the Cash Management and Reconciliations Clerk, also overseeing the internal audit function of on-site financial procedures.
Periodically update the finance manual.
Ensure Procedure notes are kept for all finance processes.
Authorisation of bank account and balance sheet reconciliations.
Create and administer an effective procedure to account for Void invoices.
Preparation of Payroll code reconciliations.
Line Management Responsibilities
Provide direct-line managerial support to the finance team.
Authorisation of annual leave for the team ensuring there is always adequate cover.
Completion of probationary annual performance reviews for the team.
Supporting the team with day-to-day duties.
Provide training and assistance to new members of the team.
To deputise in the absence Finance Director.
To chair the finance management meetings.

Develop the team's reporting methodology in all areas concerning agreed business levels, adding KPIs and performance targets to existing reports.
Ensure a detailed list of procedure notes for all areas within the finance team are kept and assist in producing an up to date finance manual.
To administer a financial timetable that adheres to strict periodic deadlines.
To develop the current cashflow procedures and create a working document so that the forecast position can be identified on a daily basis.
To ensure correct authorisation procedures have been followed for all purchase orders and payments and that adequate records are kept.
Help to design and improve procedures of the department wherever possible.
Provide effective managerial support in all areas for the finance team.
