A fantastic opportunity has opened in the Booker finance team for a Operations Finance Manager. This is a senior role in the Booker Finance team that is responsible for supporting our branches across a wide range of goods and services not for resale areas. Based in either our Wellingborough or Eccles head offices, this includes areas such as payroll, delivery, and property costs. The role provides the opportunity to play an integral part in the development of our business in the largest part of Booker.
The role holder supports senior management in minimising risk and mitigating costs thereby improving cash profit. The role is accountable for the production of branch P&L budgets as well as supporting the senior team in the preparation and understanding of the periodic accounts. The role holder deputises for the Head of Finance where necessary.
Role Responsibility
Health, Safe and Legal (Governance, Security and Controls):
- Comply with all company policies, e.g. financial planning and control, health and safety.
- Ensure accurate reporting of costs in accordance with accounting standards each period.
- Work pro-actively to develop tools to monitor productivity across collect and delivered operations.
- Work with the procurement teams to obtain optimum value from the purchasing of other goods and services not for resale.
- Track performance of save to invest initiatives to auditable standards.
- Manage the capex process across the business. Including reviewing capex investment and producing business cases to support where capex is returning.
- Work with the wider Finance team to support their performance, progression, and team development.
- Champion diversity and inclusion to ensure everyone feels welcome at Booker.
Customer Satisfaction:
- Work to identify issues that will or are impacting the branch cost base and work promptly, jointly & proactively to mitigate and resolve such issues.
- Work with stakeholders to manage understanding of the cost base and cost reporting.
- Work proactively with stakeholders to improve processes and maximise asset utilization.
- Remain knowledgeable about technology, market trends and innovations.
- Work promptly, jointly & proactively on capital projects to improve cash profit & customer satisfaction.
- Fully leverage the wider Tesco Group’s purchasing power for the benefit of Booker.
Cash Profit:
- Find ways to achieve or beat budgeted costs and try to improve costs year-on-year.
- Find ways to mitigate the impact of cost inflation on our branches.
- Deliver new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency.
- Deliver innovation through transformation and continual service improvement.
You will need
- +5 years’ experience of working in a post qualified Finance role or similar.
- Forecasting and budgeting.
- Proven analytical skills.
- Proven ‘hands on’ track record of delivering solutions within a pressurised environment.
- Good understanding of IT security and data privacy standards.
- Consistent delivery of results.
