Finance Officer
£35,000 - £42,000 per year
Full time 37.5 hours per week, permanent contract
Location: Hybrid Working, at the IMW office (London SW11 8EA) 3 days a week and up to 2 days working from home.
The Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) is a global membership organisation, recognised for having the most highly respected qualification in the wine world.
We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer, to support in all areas of accounting and finance for the IMW’s Head Office and the investment company, MWEC.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly organized, analytical, and able to problem-solve. It is essential they possess good insight and understanding of procurement and workflow systems; can show a proven track record in finance and administration. Likely part-qualified or working towards a qualification (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) the candidate will possess experience in the following:
Sage Intacct, or a similar web-based finance system (Quickbooks, Dynamics etc.) utilising purchase orders and sales order entries;
Be proficient in MS Office including Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel skills;
A good understanding of Merchant service providers such as Global Payments and American Express services;
Payment gateway services such as Sage Pay;
They will be able to:
- Raise customer invoices in local and foreign currencies and match up incoming payments.
- Perform credit control duties.
- Add supplier invoices via workflow procurement and AP; reconcile supplier aged analysis against supplier statements and prepare payments in both local and foreign currencies and match up payments to open item invoices.
- Cash management.
- Reconcile local and foreign currency bank statements.
- Cost allocations consistent with budget guidelines.
- Assist with providing Sage Intacct workflow support to the team.
- Customer focused, dealing with enquiries from Supporters, Students, and Masters of Wine.
- Prepare information for the year end audit and assist with audit process
The post-holder should be able to work independently within the finance and administration team, have strong writing skills and respect the need for confidentiality. Fluent written and spoken English is essential.
