Financial Accountant

Your new company
Hays are actively recruiting a Financial Accountant to lead a busy team of five people.
The successful candidate will be responsible for control accounts, bank reconciliations, cashflow, invoicing and charging, payments and debt collection, and income accruals for monthly reporting.
Your new role
Duties will include:

• Line management for the Billing and Accounts Receivable team of five.
• To support with month-end revenue calculation and posting into the ledger for the monthly management accounts.
• Maintain and ensure insurer credit control processes are followed for timely payment.
• Produce weekly and monthly sales ledger statements and reporting.
• Full ownership over the balance sheet including regular reconciliations and ensure any errors are corrected.
• Undertake weekly cash flow reporting and analysis, providing updates.
• Undertake year-end processes, including the preparation for year-end audit backup files and compliance with audit requirements.
• Co-ordinate and liaise with other finance team members to ensure compliance for direct and indirect taxes (including corporation tax, PAYE and VAT).
• Support the Management Accountant during month-end processes.
• Support with the preparation of the year-end financial reporting pack ready for audit and board sign- off.
• Be responsive in supporting unit leads and senior management team with financial queries.
• Work with the Management Accountant to produce monthly budget statements for departments

What you'll need to succeed The successful candidate will have proven experience of working in a similar role and ideally be working towards an accountancy qualification (AAT, CIMA, ACCA). Additionally, you will possess:
* Excellent communication skills

* Advanced IT and Excel skills

* Strong attention to detail

* Ability to work to tight deadlines

* Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
