Purpose of the Role
Reporting into the FP&A finance manager, this key role will see you take charge of a number of strategically important areas including overseeing budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting and presentation to the Executive team. The role will have a strong focus on shaping the reporting and forecasting activities for the finance department as the team is implementing Anaplan.
Business partnering is a key skill as the role partners across finance to consolidate P&L risks and opportunities and provide a P&L narrative to the Executive team and IAG Group and the Operating Companies. This role provides a great opportunity to support the Executive Team with direct exposure to the CFO.
The role includes tracking and monitoring risk and opportunities, challenging business areas on project delivery and initiatives including management, procurement, and transformation initiatives.
To business partner on projects with the wider Cargo business and to develop the reporting and understanding of the financial performance, identifying cost leakages through current processes and procedures, as well as aiding in the creation of investment cases that will ensure the correct decisions are made in interest of the business and its shareholders.
In addition to this the finance analyst will be responsible for building and maintaining the right level of internal controls, ownership of the consolidated financial ledger, playing a key role in the formation of business plans & forecasts, and supporting fundamental profitability analysis. Including reporting the financial performance of relevant business areas or operating companies.
DUTIES
- Responsibility alongside the IAGC reporting team in the consolidation of the overall IAGC management accounts, including support for budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis; including income & expenditure, balance sheets, manpower, capital recognition and project tracking.
- Analysing, interpreting and commenting on key movements by P&L item and by directorate against various baselines including prior financial periods and forecasts. Being able to provide variance analysis by key driver and commenting on KPI performance. Review operating results within IAGC and its operating companies BA, IB and EI and the management entity IAGCL.
- Creation of reporting dashboards and preparation and maintenance of standard and ad hoc reports.
- Maintain forecasting models and liaise with local finance teams and business to ensure accuracy and completion of forecasts.
- System expert for reporting. Being a key user and owner of the Anaplan business planning tool for the IAGC reporting team and a system champion among the wider finance team. Previous Anaplan experience is a plus but it is not essential. However an interest in the Anaplan tool will be required.
- Utilize SAP, PBF, Anaplan, Tableau and Think Cell tools to produce a consistent and powerful set of reports.
- Work closely with the business and perform as a finance business partner relating to projects, identifying improvements and providing challenge to the business
- Proactively identify areas of cost leakage within the current operation and assist the company in rolling out a program of continuous improvement to advance IAG Cargo’s efficiency and customer service proposition. Actively seek out explanations for the root-causes in fluctuations to the cost base against a variety of comparable; including forecasts, budgets and prior years
- Responsible for organising and planning the rolling plan timetable, including arranging reviews with business partners. Ensure submissions deadlines are met and managed.
- Understand and apply group reporting guidelines, IFRS and UK GAAP.Act a promoter of “Smart Spending” across the company, by encouraging a culture of responsible decision making
- Adhere to all corporate, statutory and regulatory requirements including Group Standing Instructions, Group Financial Standing Instructions, Financial Reporting Standards and International Accounting Standards
- Actively build and maintain strong relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues at all levels across IAG Cargo, British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Level, GBS

Experience
Essential Experience
- Accounting background, including reporting and financial analysis
- Good understanding of finance theory and good level of practical finance experience in technical group accounting
- Business awareness and commercial acumen developed through the application of finance knowledge and experience
- Commercial aptitude to external global threats and how these can impact a business or industry such as this
- Numerate and accurate
- Excellent skills in excel, Word and PowerPoint
Desirable Experience
- To be conversational in another language e.g. Spanish
- Experience in finance systems preferably including SAP, PBF, Thinkcell, Anaplan, Tableau, Business Objects
