Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Financial Analyst is a pivotal role in the organisation and will be responsible for;
- Analysing financial data to assess and report on financial health, and the viability of future plans.
- Collaborating with business areas, and finance business partners to develop financial projections, supporting the long term (30 year) business plan.
- Evaluating potential investment and disinvestment opportunities by conducting financial analysis, due diligence and preparation of reports to support the business decisions.
- Assisting the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis with the development of the long-term business plan.
- Supporting the development of scenario modelling, appraisals and stress tests to assess the viability of the long-term business plan, assisting with identifying appropriate mitigations.
- Supporting the wider business with financial modelling; grant, development and other CAPEX appraisals; and financial analysis, enabling and ensuring effective decision-making.
- Assisting with the development of effective reporting to support key decision making following analysis and appraisal of opportunities and proposals.
- Identifying financial risks and proposing strategies to mitigate them, performing sensitivity analysis where necessary to evaluate potential impacts on financial performance.
- Keeping up to date with industry trends, economic conditions and competitors/partners/peers performance to give informed advice and suitable recommendations.
- Provide credible leadership to any direct reports, demonstrating the values of the organisation and the leadership behaviours expected.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Financial Analyst should have:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA qualification is essential.
- Proven experience in a Financial Analyst role, preferably within the housing association sector or a related field or directly from a Practice.
- Significant experience of analysing data and interpreting the results for a wide range of stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience of line management of direct reports within the finance team
- Ability to provide Executive Team and Senior Managers with informed and objective advice
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, evidencing clear attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
