Venn Group are looking to recruit 2x experienced Business Advisors, who will play key roles in managing the Councils refresh of its Medium Term Financial Plan; overseeing the budget cycle in their Children’s Services department and Department of Place, for a Local Authority based in Yorkshire.

Rate: Negotiable
Hours: Full time
Contract: TBC
The role with predominately involve:
- Directing and managing a professional accounting team in overseeing the provision of accounting support to Council departments and budget holders
- Working in conjunction with the Group Accountants to provide a full range of financial support to service departments
- Ensuring the delivery of accurate financial information which meets managers needs and that facilitates the operation of the Council’s financial cycle and links with the Council’s performance management systems
- Supporting the Head of Finance in providing professional advice in accordance with professional standards, legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures
- Promoting business solutions through the delivery of financial services, ensuring principles of best value, value for money and risk management are embedded into service delivery
- Supporting an effective and strategic leadership of the Council’s finance function by making an effective contribution to the Business Services Management Team
- Directing and managing the activity of the Business Support Team to ensure that key tasks are performed and objectives are met
- Maintaining an up to date knowledge of legislative and professional requirements relating top capital, technical accountancy developments, taxation and treasury accounting issues
- Provision of advice to the Strategic Director Corporate Services and Director of Finance, IT and Procurement and senior managers on Service financial issues
- Prepare Service Budgets in liaison with the Group Accountants which complies with the requirements of the Council’s priority led budget process
- Managing the Councils budget monitoring and the preparation of forecasting reports
- Advising on efficiencies and to support Service Departments in identifying and achieving their efficiency target
The successful candidate must be a Qualified Accountant with a strong track record of success in managing relationships, preferably with Local Government experience.
