We are delighted to be working exclusively with this growing business in their search for an interim Financial Controller / Finance Manager.
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Business Partner, and working closely with the General Manager, this position is an all-round role covering many aspects of financial and management accounting from receiving invoices to the production of accounts and forecasting. Some HR responsibilities will also be required, such as payroll. The position will be based at their offices in Middleborough, although a hybrid working pattern will be available.
Responsibilities
Business Planning / Budgeting / forecasting
- Supporting the Director of Finance & Business Partner to prepare the annual budget and forecasts
Routine Responsibilities
- Receive, post and seek authorisation of purchase invoices and payment run
- Resolve invoice queries
- Produce sales invoices and self-billing invoices in a timely manner
- Completion of bank reconciliations
- Implementation of a robust month-end process to cover accurate management accounts with variance analysis in a timely manner
- Assist the Director of Finance & Business Partner in the production of the Board report ahead of monthly meetings
- Documentation of all financial procedures
- Support preparation of monthly and annual OFGEM submissions (training to be provided in using the existing system)
- Improve the efficiency and usage of the accounts systems
- Maintain the fixed asset register
- Complete the year end process and assist with the audit
- Produce and manage an accurate 13 week rolling cash flow forecast
- Oversee completion and submission of quarterly VAT returns
- Build and maintain good working relationships with senior management team and assist the CEO to ensure financial controls remain in place across the company.
Technical
- Fully or part qualified accountant in either of the major financial qualifications ACA/ACCA or CIMA. QBE also considered
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant role with a thorough practical understanding of accounting principles & techniques
- Financial reporting & operational experience preferable
- Comfortable working with IT systems, Sage in particular
- Good Excel skills including pivot tables, vlookups, graphs & data analysis
