Financial Controller

Your new company
Our client, a well known and respected manufacturer of industrial equipment in the Beds/Cambs area is looking for a Financial Controller to join their growing team, leading an in-house team of 4 staff. This position will be responsible for financial oversight of a multi-million pound organisation with over 100 staff. The ideal candidate would be a forward-thinking individual looking for a new challenge to assist in bringing the current infrastructure up to date and display a strong track record in both hands-on management and financial operations. Maintaining robust financial controls and improving processes will be a key part of the role.
The company has an impressive growth record and has acquired several other companies to compliment its own ongoing success in both domestic and international markets.
The position will involve liaison with Group Companies to provide annual statutory Company and Group Accounts and report directly to the Directors.
Your new role

• Responsible for the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts/Reports for three companies under common control using the company's accounting package.
• To perform reconciliations at month end to ensure that Management accounts are accurate.
• Tracking performance of project revenue recognition and project cost accrual.
• Work in progress, calculating monthly values from financial reports and posting workings by journals.
• Oversee preparation of quarterly VAT returns for each company.
• Liaising with the company's bankers, dealing with foreign receipts and payments, letters of credit or similar.
• Ensuring that the company is obtaining the optimum benefit from its banking arrangements.
• Liaising with the company's auditors.
• Maintaining stock records and working with the directors to ensure that the job costing is recorded correctly.
• Oversee ensuring sales invoices are issued when required; liaising with the company's management team to ensure the invoicing is done correctly.
• Oversee Payroll/Pension for approximately 137 employees.
• Management of approximately 4 staff.
• Oversee HR records and annual leave control.
• Assisting the directors in the smooth running of the company from a financial standpoint.
• To ensure a productive environment driven by forward planning of the workload and personnel, including the monitoring of costs.
• To integrate existing and introduce new computer systems for monitoring and controlling the finances of the Company.
• To understand and introduce cost saving ideas on a rolling program.
• Year End Company Financial audit

What you\'ll need to succeed

• Professional accountancy qualification with 5 years post-qualified experience.
• Experience gained from a manufacturing company.
• Understanding of Financial processes and accounting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• MRP/ERP System experience.
