Financial Controller

WHAT DOES THE TEAM DO?

The Financial Controller is a role which combines both the preparation and dissemination of financial reports to the organisation with the need to ensure that the organisation remains compliant with all current and upcoming financial regulations. Added to that is the opportunity to participate as the finance lead in some of the many special projects which the organisation becomes involved in, which range from long term grant funding arrangements and marketing partnerships to creating new internal processes and Oracle system improvements.

In more detail the role will issue and interact with the organisation on the reports being issued by Finance which report on the financial activities of the organisation and will work alongside the financial accountant to ensure correct controls and processes are being applied across the general ledger.

The post holder will be responsible for the preparation of the annual and monthly accounts and all statutory reporting and returns. The post holder will ensure that all VisitScotland staff are aware of and operate the correct financial procedures to comply with accounting, audit and Government requirements.

As part of the Finance team the role will work closely with the Financial Accountant.

BACKGROUND TO THE ROLE
Senior post within the Financial Services team with responsibility for all financial matters including preparation of reports that support the VS Group to make decisions.

Essential that all deadlines are met for month-end procedures and annual accounts.

Provide rounded financial support to the organisation, managers and budget holders, bank, auditors, Scottish Government, tax offices.

Reports to Head of Financial Services on all matters but has scope to deliver efficiencies and improve customer service and controls.

Contract Type: 18 months fixed term contract
Salary & Grade: I £53,103

This role can be based out of any VisitScotland office location's across Scotland. VisitScotland operates a hybrid working culture, partially office and partially home based.
