My exclusive client is a successful business which has recently secured private equity investment, and are now looking to build the team, implement a structure and grow current and future revenue streams. The head office where this role is based predominantly is in the Dartford / Swanley / Sidcup / Bexleyheath area, and they also have a central London office as well for one of the group businesses.
Job Description
Working closely with the Group CFO, we are looking for a Financial Controller who can manage a small (but growing) team of direct reports managing the day-to-day transactional side whilst also being a key player in the formation of a Group Finance team.This is a new role to the Group and there is significant scope for this role to evolve as the Group grows.Initial responsibilities will include:
- Management of a small team of direct reports
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Tracking performance versus budget
- Credit control and cash management
- Implementation and oversight of financial controls
- Taking the lead on year-end audits
- Liaising with other external advisers
- Suggesting updates and improvements to accounting systems
- Supporting the Group CFO and Board of Directors
The Successful Applicant
This is a hugely broad and varied role which may suit a practice background or industry-trained qualified accountant who is keen to progress in their career as a Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for a formally qualified accountant with strong interpersonal and technical skills. Previous use of QuickBooks / Xero and a high level of Excel ability (including financial modelling) would be advantageous. The ideal candidate for this Financial Controller should have:
- A formal accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA most likely)
- Proven expertise in managing accounting and finance operations teams
- Proficiency in Quickbooks or Xero software, with the ability to implement improvements.
- A strong understanding of financial regulations and standards
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Advanced Excel skills
