Financial Controller
Harper May is currently collaborating with a prominent player in the hospitality sector, boasting a portfolio of esteemed hotels.
As they embark on further growth and expansion initiatives, they are in search of a dynamic and seasoned Financial Controller to augment their team.
In this role, you will serve as a linchpin in guaranteeing precise financial reporting and upholding streamlined control systems.
Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the preparation of financial reports, steering revenue forecasting efforts, monitoring expenditure, and spearheading the orchestration of financial audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate reports, including revenue forecasts, costs, profitability, P&L accounts, budget packs, and periodic Balance Sheets.
- Monitor revenue billing and cash control, implementing efficient control systems for expenditure forecasting and management, including payroll and gross margins.
- Report and reconcile daily revenue, providing daily management information.
- Process purchase orders and invoices, inputting them into the accounts system with correct coding to nominal codes, and ensure suppliers are paid in accordance with the company's financial policy.
- Handle supplier queries and reconcile supplier statements.
- Manage payroll processing, payments by BACS, and monthly PAYE reconciliation, reporting payroll costs by department and inputting them into the nominal ledger.
- Ensure credit control procedures are in place to collect debts in line with company policy.
- Ensure all revenue is accurately captured, and costs are reported correctly in the nominal ledger.
- Prepare Prepayment and Accrual Journal and maintain schedules.
- Reconcile Cash and bank accounts weekly.
- Prepare periodic presentations for owner's meetings.
- Prepare monthly management accounts in line with the company's financial policy.
- Oversee stocktakes for beverage and liaise with all HODs regarding departmental P&Ls and gross profit percentages.
- Submit quarterly VAT returns through Sage 50 (MTD).
- Implement and support property operating policies and procedures.
- Coordinate all financial audits.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with 5-10 years PQE.
- Confident, articulate, and communicative with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong process orientation with a positive approach to change.
- Ability to coach team members as the team grows.
- Organised, systematic, and deadline-driven.
- Analytical and detail-oriented.
- Good Excel skills, computer literate with experience using multiple systems – Sage Line 50 experience an advantage.
- Experience working within an entrepreneurial environment is advantageous.
