Applications are invited for an opportunity to join the Finance Team at SRUC Kings Buildings, in Edinburgh.
The main purpose of this role is to manage a team of financial analysts to provide relevant, timely and accurate financial information to the Finance Business Partners, the Head of Finance Business Partnering and Finance Director. The role is key for creating and developing new approaches to financial and performance reporting using the systems and resources available and driving process improvements, as well as responding to changes in end user requirements.
The post holder will also be expected to support the Financial Controller in preparation of statutory accounts for the SRUC group, company, subsidiaries and associates as well as other external reporting such as annual Finance HESA and TRAC return.
Main Responsibilities will include;
Supporting the Finance Business partners in preparation of the regular and ad hoc internal financial information. This includes:
• Drive continuous improvement in the team to ensure all reporting is value-adding to internal customers.
• Setting and driving monthly timetable for delivery of results and reporting.
• Deliver service and system improvements and efficiencies in their team of finance analysts.
• Mindful of a continuous improvement agenda, with ongoing appraisal and re-evaluation of Financial Reporting systems and change management to new ways of Reporting and working.
Supporting the Financial Controller in maintaining a full financial accounting process. This includes:
• Maintaining a P&L analytical review and balance sheet reconciliation process, reviewing work and taking action to address any discrepancies or errors identified;
• Applying knowledge and understanding of accounting standards to ensure accounting treatment is correct and proposing treatment for unusual transactions where necessary;
• Delivering External financial reports (statutory accounts, TRAC and HESA returns) to a strict deadline and leveraging their results for the use of internal Financial Reporting where relevant.
