Venn Group are currently working with one of our valued public sector clients to source a Financial Services Manager for an exciting new interim assignment.
The organisation in question is based in Hertfordshire and is paying £40.00 per hour umbrella, for six months, and offers hybrid working.
The position involves the following:
- Providing expert technical financial advice and support at all levels across the organisation, the role supports the Head of Finance and Business Services in offering high-quality strategic financial advice and support to members and senior officers. It involves researching, advising, and reporting on all aspects of financial strategy and policy at operational and strategic levels
- Being responsible for the efficient and effective operational management, service delivery, and quality provision of all Financial Services for the organisation, including financial strategy and medium-term financial planning, management accounting, financial reporting, and financial systems and control
- Managing the Financial Services team on a day-to-day basis
- Assuming overall responsibility for the Financial Information Systems (FIS), ensuring that integrity and adequate controls are maintained at all times. The role also oversees the improvement and development of the FIS, utilizing its full functionality to deliver maximum efficiencies
- Working closely with the HoFBS to ensure the operational development of the finance and business services department and undertaking specific projects as designated
Skills and qualifications needed:
- Essential: Qualified Accountant (CCAB Qualified incl. CIMA)
- In-depth experience in Financial and Management accounting and financial control, with application in an evolving business and commercial environment
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and familiarity with The Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting in the UK
- Sound knowledge of financial systems, legislation, strategy, and management within an organization
- Awareness of health and safety requirements and ability to ensure compliance within the group
- Understanding of the financial resources and information needs of Senior Management and Members
- Effective communication with customers, colleagues, outside bodies, and councillors (in writing, by telephone, and face-to-face)
- Tactful handling of complex issues while maintaining confidentiality
