We have an exciting opportunity for aFire Risk Assessor to ensure all residential and non-residential buildings conform to building regulations and technical standards specifically in relation to fire safety.

Freebridge Community Housing is the largest provider of housing in West Norfolk, set up in 2006 to receive the transfer of homes from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. Today, we own and manage around 7,000 homes across West Norfolk, making a difference to thousands of customers within communities across an area of almost 550 square miles. We have an annual turnover of £30m and employ well over 200 people, including our own Property Services team. Over the last 14 years, there have been numerous achievements, not least delivering our tenants’ promises and bringing homes to the Decent Homes Standard, affording our customers a much better quality of living.

Requirements

  • Provide assurance to the Building & Community Safety Manager that all activities related to fire safety demonstrate compliance and all relevant standards are met.
  • Ensure prompt reporting of non-compliance and provide advice, options and recommended solutions to hazards and risks found.
  • Act on findings to remove or reduce the risks and hazards identified including preparing specifications and requirements to allow for the planning of works.
  • Responsible for monitoring progress, checking and post inspecting works have been completed in accordance with fire related Building Regulations, fire safety standards, specifications and the Freebridge Home Standard.
  • Sign off specific recommended actions that require fire specialism.

Knowledge and Experience

  • In depth knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations and compliance standards
  • Good all-round knowledge of the key principles and main legislative acts in relation to Health and Safety in the context of the construction/ building industry sector
  • Experienced in carrying out Fire Risk surveys and identifying non-compliance with relevant legislation, standards and best practice
  • At least one of the following qualifications : NEBOSH Fire Risk Management, NEBOSH Health & Safety or IFSM Accreditation for Fire Risk Assessment or equivalent (General Needs, Extra Care and Sheltered Schemes).
  • Ability to propose solutions to issues identified
