Fire Safety Officer
Location: Lancaster or Carlisle
Salary: £37,099 - £41,732 per annum
Job Type: Fixed Term Contract, 36 Months
As our clients Fire Safety Officer, you will need to communicate with individuals across the University, including accommodation officers, managers, and heads of department. The ability to communicate with the whole range of employees, contractors, visitors, and students on University premises, as well as external agencies, is essential.
You will be fully conversant with current fire legislation and relevant codes of practice, British Standards and building regulations (all Purpose Groups).
You will carry out Fire Risk Assessments in accordance with PAS79 within various residential and non-residential premises, providing competent advice and guidance to staff, students and visitors and reporting on all matters relating to Fire Safety including PEEPs.
You will be a strong and competent voice in the development and implementation of a University wide fire strategy, policy, and associated procedures in accordance with The Fire Safety Act 2021 and The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. You will ensure that regular, documented inspections are carried out on all University dwellings, and you will be responsible for monitoring and upkeep of any Fire Safety action trackers, working with internal departments to evidence continual improvement.
The Health and Safety Office provides advice on all aspects of health and safety within the University, including Fire Safety. Its main function is to support the University's Health Safety Executive Group by monitoring compliance and formulating policies or guidance. This includes coordinating consultation exercises with the University's Consultative Committee for Health and Safety.
