The partnership between Boeing and the UK dates back to the 1930’s and continues to get stronger and deeper, with UK jobs, skills and opportunities being constantly generated to support major UK aircraft programmes such as Apache & Chinook helicopters, C-17 Globemaster, P-8A Poseidon and the E-7 AEW&C, to mention a few.

Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is searching for a Fixed Wing - Supplier Management and Procurement Manager in Bristol/Yeovil/Gosport, UK. This role will be to lead the Fixed WingSupplier Management and Procurement team, responsible for Supplier Management and Subcontracting for the BDUK Fixed Wing business unit. The Fixed Wing business unit is an area of significant growth within BDUK and this role represents a great opportunity to develop the supply chain strategies to support this growth, grow and develop the team and build a strong and capable UK supply chain to meet the needs of the Fixed Wing business and Customer requirements. This role will report to the Senior Manager for BDUK Fixed Wing Supply Chain. This is a full-time role with some hybrid working options.
Responsibilities

  • First Line Manager responsible for Fixed WingSupplier Management and Procurement activity across all programme execution and/or proposal preparation. The role will also be responsible for the continued development of a Supplier Management and Procurement capability in Fixed Wing.
  • The role will be responsible for a team of approximately 10, with scope for further growth with responsibility for the team member’s growth and professional development.
  • Manage procurement agents performing activities related to committing company resources to purchase goods and services, developing supplier strategies, development of bid packages, proposal analysis and development of contracts.
  • People Management - staffing, employee development, coordinating employee training and supporting all programme and functional objectives.
  • Adept practitioner of Seek, Speak and Listen/Psychological Safety principles across all activities whether people or programme focused.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, suppliers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • The maximisation of supply chain related UK Prosperity, Social Value, Sustainability and localisation through the development of appropriate strategies.
  • The identification and implementation of Best and Emergent Supplier Management Practices in collaboration with the Functional Excellence team.
  • Provides oversight and approval of sourcing approaches and negotiation strategies.
  • Delivering cost reduction on annual basis through the delivery of improvements and efficiencies through the Fixed Wing supply chain


Essential Qualifications And Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years Supply Chain experience, ideally in Management and leadership roles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate at all levels within an organisation to manage stakeholders including Suppliers and Customers
  • Experience in leading proposals, contract terms and conditions development, and negotiation efforts
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience supporting and leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to be self-directed in work and/or previous experience in a self-directed role
  • Strong business acumen and adept problem solving ability
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to obtain UK SC security clearance
  • Communication skills and customer focus are critical to be successful in the role

Desired Qualifications And Experience

  • University degree preferred
  • MCIPS qualified
  • Experience supporting proposal preparation for UK government contracts

Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense

Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security Clearance for which the UK Government requires UK residency. The successful candidate will hold, or have the ability to obtain, Security Clearance (SC).
