Job Title:Food Tech TeacherLocation: Bucknall, Stoke on TrentContract Type: Term time (39 weeks)Hours: 40 hours per weekSalary: GBP30,000 to GBP44,870 (M1 - UPS2)Essential Criteria: PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training. UQT consideredWe are currently seeking a positive, self-motivated Food Tech Teacher, to deliver a Food Technology curriculum within a specialist provision supporting young people aged 6 - 19 with a range of diagnosis typically related to Autism and other conditions.The Role:As a Class Teacher in this "outstanding rated" school, your role will be to provide teaching and learning of Food Technology to learners, leading to appropriate accreditation/qualifications.To facilitate this, you'll plan and deliver lessons according to DFE guidance and the school's policies and be responsible for the day to day running of the class, including supervision of a Teaching Assistant, and other relevant aspects of the running of the school.Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity. Additionally; you will also be expected to carefully monitoring the health, well-being and personal care of our pupils; informing care/medical/behavioural support teams and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher status
  • Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN
  • Experience of working with young people with ASD
  • Preferably with prior experience of delivering BTEC home cooking or similar.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Ability to create and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, to include the students with anxiety.
  • Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners important.
  • A flexible approach and a high level creativity
