Empower Justice Through Science: Lead and Innovate in Forensic Toxicology with Merseyside Police.

NORTHWEST REGIONAL TOXICOLOGY FACILITY:

The Northwest Regional Toxicology Facility based at Merseyside Police Headquarters, is the culmination of a project starting in 2020 providing a forensic toxicology service specifically for drug driving (the primary toxicology request within the Criminal Justice System) focused on Section 5A of the 1988 Road Traffic Act. The facility is focused on the analysis of whole blood samples from suspects, testing for the seventeen panel drugs at a specified limit. It is the first of its kind for policing in England & Wales and supplements the pre-existing forensic marketplace involving Forensic Service Providers, whilst also reducing risks associated with the private sector supply.
